The Artist Without a Studio (2025)
furniture, artist‘s tools, canvases, construction materials
The main concept of artwork is to express the reality and advantages/disadvantages the artist deals with and feeling state while being without his own studio. The necessity to have a private space for creative process dictates special needs to the space and items, tools and even furniture. Life dictates condition itself.
The artwork represents specific time, state, location situations artist faces when he doesn‘t have his own studio to create. Items in a column are structured in a certain order and act as symbols of daily artist’s life, express character, habits.
Both installations are column structures expressing the different manner – the chaos and the order. Each object in it expresses its practical purpose and has a symbolic or utilitarian meaning or both.
While the first column was created chaotically from objects found in shared workspace, the 2nd one is designed with order – objects are chosen depending on my habits and my personality as an artist, as a mother and as woman as well.
Installation No2. represents the artist‘s „must have“ objects storaged in a column - the vertical structure of the minimal space. I search what is the link between the space, the artist (me) and the objects.
The bromes of Vilnius. Baricade & no entry (2023)
Artistic research project
The Idea of the installation is an artistic protest act against abduction of the Vilnius Old Town public spaces – bromes (passageways). Starting from the brome – first public entry point to another one – spaces start to become a private property: hotels and markets are settled down in courtyards, souvenir shops occurs, caffes and restaurants opens. Meter after meter of public area becomes forbidden to enter.
The installation consist of two objects:
The BARICADE installation is a baricade of waste containers. As a particular location to express the problematic St. Ann’s Gate Chapel is chosen – most sacred building in the City of Vilnius.
The NO ENTRY work is an oversized stained glass sculpture – sign, settled down in a random brome of Vilnius Old Town. It expresses the conflict between public and private interest.
The creek (2025)
Roaring, foaming, gushing in a waterfall, rushing over stones, flowing mightily as the road widens and calmly meandering on its own course. It turns into to ice, dries up, but always comes alive again and again in every spring.
The installation is about the constant change, the uncontrollable nature, the inevitable eternal passage of time. It is about being. With this work I want to preserve the impossible thing – to stop the moment.
The artist book (2024)
painted canvases, metal staples, frames
The artist book is created from (un)finished, (un)successful, (un)forgotten or damaged paintings. It is a transformation of artwork – the canvases are taken off the frames, they are cuted, parts of images removed – and then are putted together into the new art object.
(un)successful works (2024)
painted canvases, metal staples, sketchbooks
This project is basen on idea what happens, when artist decides change his finished artwork. I decide which paintings are not so successful and remove it from the wooden frame. The daily being in a creative process is a purpose itself.
By this act artworks changes its primary function and are transformed into another object and meaning. Painted works are joined together into a growing mountain.
The visual meaning, idea of the each painting is not important anymore, it is lost. You can‘t see it in plain sight. Is the art useless?
